From a humble desire to address the food insecurity needs of Viroqua and surrounding area in the late 90's, the Living Faith Food Pantry has now become the headquarters for a network of partners dedicated to meeting this growing community need.
There were 4,122 household visits to the food pantry in 2014 and total of 214,866 lbs of food was distributed. That is an average of 52lbs per household.
The pantry offers a choice program where each participant makes food selections within categories that best meets their personal needs and tastes. We provide recipes and samples to help participants become familiar with the wide variety of produce that is seasonally available. We are also fortunate to offer many organically grown foods that substantially increase the variety of food we offer in our distribution.
In 2014, $28,373 was donated for operation of the pantry. In addition, various organizations regularly donate both fresh and processed foods. We also seek and obtain grants from time to time for assistance with our facility and equipment needs.
